Announces Scholarships to be Awarded

Scholarships are available to Dietitians and Undergraduate Students enrolled in Dietetic Programs

Applicants are judged on the basis of: Scholarship, Professional Potential and Financial Need

  2. Sister Helen Marie Pellicer Scholarship
    Established 1969 in memory of Sister Helen Marie Pellicer
    • Amount of Award: $1,500.00
    • Qualifications: Upper division undergraduate student in dietetics

  3. Florida Dietetic Association President's Scholarship
    Established 1975
    • Amount of Award: $1,500.00
    • Qualifications: Graduate student in dietetics or Registered Dietitian working
      towards a Masters/PhD to enhance his/her career in dietetics

  4. Florida Dietetic Association's Dietetic Intern Scholarship
    Established 2005
    • Amount of Award: $1,000.00
    • Qualifications: entrance into a Dietetic Internship Program

  5. Broward County Dietetic Association Scholarship
    Established 1997
    • Amount of Award: $250.00
    • Qualifications: Upper division undergraduate student in dietetics

  6. Criteria

      1. Applicants are to be:

        1. U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
        2. Florida resident
        3. Student continuing education for at least one additional academic term following application, Dietetic Intern candidate planning to begin in the fall.
        4. Members of the American Dietetic Association and the Florida Dietetic Association or in programs leading to eligibility for membership: i.e., planning to enter an approved internship, enrollment in a coordinated undergraduate program, or enrollment in a dietetic technician program
        5. Anticipating practice in the field of dietetics

      2. Applicants should have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, however, applicants are not judged solely on academia.

      3. Review of references and statement of goals indicate professional potential and commitment to excellence in dietetics.

  7. Selection Procedures

    1. Application forms are avilable online at www.eatrightflorida.org/scholarship/index.html.

    2. Scholarship application notices are mailed annually to Florida colleges, universities, dietetic technician programs and state WIC office.

    3. Application with (2) letters of reference and transcripts must be received on or before May 1st.

    4. Selection of recipients is made by the Scholarship committee.

    5. Recognition of the scholarship recipients will be made during the Annual Symposium of the Florida Dietetic Association. A check and certificate will be presented at that time. The Scholarship Chair will notify each recipient of the location, date, and time.

Request two (2) Florida Dietetic Association Foundation Scholarship Reference Forms. Reference Forms will be submitted online. THE REFERENCES MUST BE FROM: (1) a registered dietitian and (2) a faculty member.
