CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
INFORMATION SHARING POSTER SESSION 2008 FLORIDA DIETETIC ASSOCIATION
ANNUAL SYMPOSIUM
Members of the Florida Dietetic Association and graduate/undergraduate students and dietetic interns, who are members/prospective members of the Association, are invited to submit an abstract for the FDA Annual Symposium Information Sharing Poster Session. Entries will be reviewed for consideration by the session Chair and appointed reviewers. Each primary author may submit one abstract. The submission deadline is May 1, 2008.
Description
- Poster presentations describing a research study or new programs, tools, techniques, strategies, etc. used in dietetics practice will be highlighted in this session.
- Posters should be designed to fit on a 4’ x 8’ cork board. The poster session will be informal, but authors will be expected to be available during the 2 hour session to discuss their work with symposium participants. The session is scheduled for Monday, July 18, 2008, from 12:30-2:30 PM.
Directions for Submission
- Submissions are limited to one (1) abstract per primary author.
- The abstract should provide enough detail for the reviewer to adequately evaluate the submission. In general, the abstract should include information describing the:
- objectives/specific aims/hypothesis/purpose of the project
- methods/approach used in conducting the research or developing the program, tool or technique
- results/outcomes
- conclusions and applications
(Note: Do not include subtitles (i.e., introduction, objective, methods, etc.) within the body of the abstract.)
- All abstracts must be saved as a Word file (font size 12).
- Include the title, author(s), degrees of authors, and institution(s)/organization(s) where the research/project was completed, city and state. (Do not include street address or zip code.)
- Start the text of the abstract on a new line; indent three spaces.
- Limit the abstract (including title and authors) to a 5” wide x 8” long textbox.
- A table can be included in the abstract if it is simple, neat and fits within the 5” x 8” textbox.
- Terms that are abbreviated should be spelled out at first mention followed by the abbreviation in parentheses.
- Submissions may be completed online, OR a copy of the completed application form can be sent by regular mail along with a CD-ROM that contains the abstract as a 2003 Word file. The submission must be submitted online or postmarked on or before midnight, May 1, 2008. A $25.00 refundable* application fee payable to the Florida Dietetic Association must be sent to the address listed below.

* The $25.00 application fee will be refunded within 30 days of the FDA Annual Symposium under the following conditions:
- The abstract was not selected for presentation at the FDA Annual Symposium.
- The abstract was displayed and presented by one of the listed authors at the FDA Annual Symposium during the scheduled time.
Failure to display and present a poster that has been accepted for presentation during the poster session will result in forfeiture of the application fee.
Other Important Information
- An abstract submitted by a graduate or undergraduate student must include a letter from the faculty advisor/internship director stating that the advisor has approved the submission.
- The poster presentation must be made by one of the authors listed on the abstract.
- A complimentary symposium registration for Monday (the day of the poster session) will be awarded to the author presenting the poster. All other expenses must be covered by the participant.
- Notification of the status of your submission will be sent by email by June 13, 2008.
